Choosing Love Again: A Caregiver's Journey of Forgiveness

Taking responsibility for children left behind after a parent's arrest can change a caregiver's life overnight. The responsibility may bring love and purpose, but also anger, exhaustion, and worries about how to provide for everyone. Through Lespwar Trust's caregiver support programme, this caregiver received parenting guidance and psychosocial support to help navigate the emotional challenges of caregiving. A small grant also offered practical assistance towards rebuilding financial stability. With support, she could begin approaching her caregiving responsibilities with renewed understanding, patience, and hope. Forgiveness did not mean forgetting the pain; it meant making room for healing while continuing to care for the children who depended on her. Sometimes, supporting a caregiver changes the future of an entire family.
